Schitt’s Creek: The Most Important Secrets the Characters Kept

Must Read

It’s often said that there are no secrets in a small town, and Schitt’s Creek, with its tight-knit community and talkative residents, is no exception. Despite this, the characters still attempt to keep certain things under wraps, though the truth usually comes out eventually.

In many cases, the vain Rose family keeps secrets to avoid embarrassment. In other instances, people hide the truth to spare someone’s feelings. Regardless of the reason, most main characters on Schitt’s Creek have at least one significant secret.

By the end of the series, David Rose has grown into a selfless person, but in season 1, he is still capable of self-centered decisions. When he learns that his family isn’t moving, David decides to leave town without telling anyone. He keeps this a secret to prevent his family from following him and bringing him back. However, when they track him down to a remote Amish farm, he is more than ready to leave.

David isn’t the only one whose plans are disrupted by staying in Schitt’s Creek. Alexis turns down Ted’s proposal and ends up sleeping with Mutt, thinking she is leaving town. But when she realizes she is staying, Ted assumes their relationship is back on. Mutt insists Alexis tell Ted the truth, but she feels too bad for him each time she tries, dragging out their breakup longer than necessary.

Planning a surprise party is challenging, especially when the guest of honor is Moira Rose. David and Johnny go to great lengths to organize a last-minute party, using a fake fundraiser as a cover. They face a major obstacle when Moira decides to take charge of the fundraiser herself. This forces David to reveal the truth to prevent her from ruining the surprise. Moira, whose acting can be questionable, oversells her excitement when she arrives at the party.

Twyla is one of the most likable supporting characters in the show. As the friendly waitress at Café Tropical, she embodies the perfect down-to-earth persona in a small town and immediately welcomes the Roses.
