The Schitt’s Creek Cast: Where Have They Gone?

Must Read

Schitt’s Creek began as a modest Canadian series but achieved record-breaking success at the 2020 Emmys, setting a new standard for comedy wins in a single season. The beloved sitcom followed a wealthy family’s abrupt downfall into small-town life, a story crafted by its creators and writers, Eugene Levy and his son Dan Levy.

The decision to conclude the series after its sixth season was intentional, ensuring it ended on a high note. Eugene Levy reflected on this choice in a 2020 interview with The New York Times, stating it was the perfect culmination.

Since the show wrapped, each cast member has pursued diverse and notable projects. Eugene Levy, known for roles in American Pie and National Lampoon’s Vacation, embarked on a new challenge with the travel series The Reluctant Traveler on Apple TV+. He also appeared in projects like Kacey Musgraves’ Star-Crossed: The Film and a Nissan Super Bowl commercial in 2022. Alongside Dan Levy, he co-authored a behind-the-scenes book about Schitt’s Creek in 2021.

Schitt’s Creek’s resident veterinarian Ted Mullens was brought to life by Dustin Milligan, who is originally from Yellowknife, Canada.

In April 2021, he looked back at his career in an interview with BuzzFeed. Asked what audiences may have missed while watching Schitt’s Creek, Milligan said: “I’m a human being and that means that I sweat sometimes. There’s a lot of scenes in Schitt’s Creek where you may not notice this, but I’ve got paper towels crammed into my armpits.”

Since Schitt’s Creek ended, the actor has taken on film, television and writing projects. In 2022, he starred in The People We Hate at the Wedding alongside Kristen Bell. Milligan also played a dogsitter in the 2022 comedy Mack & Rita and a journalist in the short-lived Peacock series Rutherford Falls.

Milligan is also focused on scripts of his own. In January 2023, he shared on Instagram that his script Legend of the Sky Drifters, or Murph and Alex Go To Time-Jail was a sci-fi and fantasy category winner in the 2022 Big Break Screenwriting Contest.

Catherine O’Hara, celebrated for her roles in Beetlejuice and Home Alone, earned acclaim for her portrayal of Moira Rose on Schitt’s Creek, including a Golden Globe win in 2021. Since then, she has contributed her voice to animated projects and starred in films like Pixar’s Elemental. She remains close with Dan Levy, recently reuniting with him at Paris Fashion Week.

Dan Levy, who gained recognition through Schitt’s Creek as its co-creator and actor (David Rose), has expanded into directing with his debut film Good Grief and ventured into unscripted television with The Big Brunch on HBO Max. He also appeared in the HBO series The Idol and Netflix’s Sex Education.

Annie Murphy, who played Alexis Rose on the show, transitioned from financial uncertainty before Schitt’s Creek to a successful career that includes roles in Russian Doll and Kevin Can F**k Himself, as well as the film Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken.

The cast’s post-Schitt’s Creek endeavors showcase their versatility and ongoing contributions to the entertainment industry, leaving fans hopeful for future collaborations or reunions.
