The co-creator of the hit comedy series ‘Schitt’s Creek’ has suggested that the show could make a comeback if there’s enough fan interest. Eugene Levy recently discussed the possibility of reviving the beloved series, which concluded just two years ago.
At 77, Eugene Levy co-created ‘Schitt’s Creek’ with his son Dan Levy. The show, which premiered in 2015, ran for six successful seasons. Alongside the Levys, the sitcom stars Catherine O’Hara and Annie Murphy, who complete the Rose family ensemble.
Throughout the six seasons, viewers watched as the once-wealthy Rose family adapted to a more modest life in the small town of Schitt’s Creek.
The show has a dedicated and emotionally invested fanbase, so news of a potential return is likely to heighten anticipation. In a recent interview with Radio Times, Levy shared, “My son Daniel and I have often said we’d love to reunite with the cast and take the show and its characters to new heights. There’s nothing planned at the moment, but we’ve never stopped thinking about what could happen in the future. We’re open to the idea, and if the right concept comes along, we might act on it.”
He added, “It was a fantastic production, and most of the cast stayed on for the entire six years. It was a joy to work on, especially with my son and daughter. It was a gift to fatherhood, and I felt the show was strong from the first season to the last.”
‘Schitt’s Creek’ garnered nine Emmy awards towards the end of its run and is considered one of the most successful “slow burn” TV shows ever made.
One fan commented, “They definitely should bring it back! I want to see David become a dad! Do Alexis and Ted reconnect? What’s Stevie’s life like now? So many possible storylines.”
Another fan had a different take: “A reunion movie every now and then would be fun, but the series ended perfectly. I wouldn’t want an ongoing series to spoil that.”
